Slow Cooked Success: UCA Students Bless Families at Desired Haven
At Desired Haven Family Care, we often see how God weaves together people, gifts, and creativity to meet the real needs of families. Recently, a group of students from the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) did just that through their senior capstone project, Slow Cooked Success.
These students visited the Little Rock Desired Haven Family Care Home with a vision to encourage moms and provide tools that make daily life a little easier. Each mom was gifted a brand-new crockpot and a recipe book filled with simple, healthy meal ideas designed for busy families. As the students presented the cookbooks and crockpots, joy filled the room—moms were already sharing which recipes they wanted to try first and how these meals would bless their children.
What made this project even more meaningful was the way it was made possible. The students worked diligently to fundraise and secure donations, ensuring that every detail was covered. Their efforts were supported by the generosity of Greenbrier—New Life Church, who helped provide the supplies needed to bring this project to life.
The result? Smiles, gratitude, and the beginning of new traditions around the dinner table. Something as simple as a warm, home-cooked meal can strengthen families and remind them of God’s steady provision.
We are so thankful for the UCA students, their creativity, and their commitment to serving families. Their project is a reminder that when the community comes together in love, lasting impact is made—one meal at a time.
