A Name, A Family, A Future: Liam’s Adoption Story

“L-i-a-m!”

Those four letters became especially meaningful when Liam Ray Jones learned how to spell his new name, the name that would officially be his forever. After 963 days in foster care, Liam’s adoption day marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with love, stability, and belonging.

When Liam’s foster mom, Aspen Jones, finalized his adoption, the room was filled with celebration. Around 30 relatives, friends, church family members, and church staff gathered to witness this special moment. Their presence was a powerful reminder that Liam’s journey had never been walked alone. Since being placed with Aspen in 2023, he has been surrounded by a community committed to loving and supporting him every step of the way.

Aspen’s journey into foster care began with a simple but faithful step of obedience. Reflecting on that decision, she shared, “I know there is a huge need to serve and open my home for those who need it. I also believe I have a responsibility as a believer to care for children who need it, and I can serve in that way through fostering. I love that Connected is for the families and the foster families, as well as Connected’s desire to involve the whole church.”

Her words reflect the heart behind Christ-centered family services, where caring for children is not just a calling for individuals, but a mission embraced by the entire faith community.

Throughout Liam’s time in her home, Aspen has faithfully cared for every aspect of his growth: physically, emotionally, educationally, and spiritually. His progress has been remarkable. His Connected Families caseworker shared how incredible it was to see Liam’s early reading skills develop at such a young age, along with his ability to memorize Scripture.

This kind of growth is rarely the result of one person alone. It is the fruit of a community coming together in faith and love. CrossLife Church has faithfully surrounded Liam as a supportive church family, while the Awana program at First Baptist Church Russellville has played a meaningful role in helping him hide God’s Word in his heart.

Liam’s story is a beautiful reminder that God provides exactly what is needed, placing the right people at the right time to build, strengthen, and restore the life of a child.

Today, Liam’s name represents more than identity, it represents permanency, love, and a future filled with hope.

If you’ve ever wondered how God might use you to make a difference, stories like Liam’s show the eternal impact of opening your home, your heart, and your life to a child in need.
